Because Of You Chihuahua Rescue

It was mid June and a male Chihuahua, approxamitly 10 - 12 years old was found in a stolen car. He should have had several more years but this dog had suffered abuse and gross neglect for what appeared to be his entire life. His nails seemed to have nver been cut and were 4" long. Needless to say he was unable to walk on them. He had a broken front leg, rigt above the foot. When he tried to walk, it was on the stub. He was covered with fleas, missing hair and had sores all over his tiny body. He smelled as if he had fungus on his skin...Frail, thin and full of parasites, he looked as if he just came from a concentration camp!

What was most disturbing was the endless crying and wailing he did. His eyes were clouded with cataracts but as I looked into them, I saw only fear, pain and a haunted soul. We tried to save him but even with all the medical work done on him and love we tried to show him, it wasnt enough.

I did not know him in life until the end but I loved him. Because he was so brave, I named him Valiente. I was there to hold him at the end and I know his pain is now over. He is across the rainbow bridge with all four legs, healthy and running with God.

And "Because of You" Chihuaha Rescue will grow and save others before they get as far gone as Valiente was. His life will have meaning; he was so brave to live thru the pain!
